What is depression? The symptoms of depression and the causes
Depression is also classified as a mood disorder, this can also be described a person will feel loss, feelings of sadness or even anger (Debra et.al 2018). The psychologist mentioned that depression will actually affect how you feel, think and behave and also can lead to emotional and physical problems. Those who have the impression might have trouble doing normal day to day activities while the negative thinking will suddenly affect you that make you think that life isn’t worth living.
According to statistics, the prevalence of depression in Malaysia was estimated to be between 8 and 12%. The figures were higher among women of low socio-economic background or those with comorbid medical conditions in Malaysia. Those people who have depression might experience it in different ways. It may interfere with their daily life & work and result in wasting time and lower down the productivity. Depression also can influence relationships and chronic health conditions. The conditions are including asthma, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer.
Symptoms
There are always symptoms for depression and the symptoms occur most of the day or nearly every day.
1. You will feel angry and frustrated and don’t know what to do about it.
2. Feeling of sadness, emptiness or hopelessness. Sometimes your are trying to commit suicide.
3. You might feel loss of interest in normal activities such as sport activities or any hobbies.
4. You might not sleep well at night or sleeping too much
5. You might feel more tired and lack energy.
6. Your cognitive ability might be affected which causes slow thinking, speaking and any body movements.
There are few Causes for the depression
1. Family history
This is means you will have higher risk for getting depression if anyone of your family member have depression or another mood disorder
2. Family issue
Researchers proved that there is correlation between family issues and depression.
3. Hormones
Changes in the body’s balance of hormones might cause depression. Hormone changes

If you feel depressed you should go make an appointment with your doctor or any mental health professional to discuss your problems as soon as possible. Prevention for depression
There’s no such way to prevent depression but can minimize it. Below strategies may help.
1. Try to control your stress and increase your resilience and improve your self-esteem.
2. Voice out to your friends and family members or anyone else you are trusted
3. Seek for the professional help and get treatment to prevent things
4. Consider taking some supplements to help yourself.
